| Land Pavilion |

Picture
The wall of the Ministry of Justice in Windhoek’s City Centre, was transformed into a canvas for a contemporary art installation during a few evenings in October 2018. “The Land Pavilion” youth project contributed to the topical national discourse shortly after Namibia’s 2nd Land Conference. The Namibian Architecture Students Association is representing architects, quantity surveyors and planners at the Department of Architecture and Spatial Planning (DASP) at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). And together with students from the College of the Arts (COTA) and recent Architectural and Law graduates, NASA initiated this art installation project with the aim of visualizing overlooked perspectives of the #LandDebate.  dB Audio Namibia supported NUST and respective project partners with a heavy-duty outdoor projector to bring this unique project to life.

Our IT Technician Martin Nangolo, our AV department’s Isabella Matuzee and our Lighting Department’s Leena Tjithunga attended some sessions of the recent ICT summit held in Windhoek.  Presented under the theme “Digital Transformation for an ICT smart Namibia”, the annual summit sees Information Communication Technology stakeholders discussing trends and challenges facing the industry. “I really did not know how well Namibia is doing in this area. It was very motivating to hear that what I do every day contributes to Namibia’s standing in the ICT sector”, explains Isabella.

| Broadening Our Horizons |

John Ndevasia Muafangejo was one of the most prolific artists Namibia has ever produced.  Team dB wanted to know more about him after attending the premiere of ‘I am John, a love story’ at the NTN earlier this month. The multi-disciplined theatre production, directed by Sandy Rudd, included large scale projections of the artist’s work with projectors hired from us.  We then went further by attending an exhibition of the artist’s works at the FNCC. “It was fascinating to see the art in different contexts – firstly as social commentary about life in the 1970s and ‘80s, then in a contemporary exhibition context, and finally how it came to life through projection during the theatre play”, says our Production Coordinator Fellemon Ndongo.

Martin Nangolo is our in-house IT Support Technician.  “I grew up in Onyaanya in the Oshikoto region near Ondangwa.  I was always passionate about computers and technology so it was no surprise that I went on to study Computer Science at UNAM.  When dB Audio Namibia was looking for IT students to freelance at a big international conference back in 2013, I volunteered.  I knew then already this was the company I wanted to work at.  Being here now for the past year is a dream come true.  I get to live out my passion for IT and I love being surrounded by all this technology.  I also really like that dB is a learning organization where I get to help my colleagues become more computer savvy.  Not only do I teach, but I also learn like recently when I attended the ICT summit. It is a great platform for likeminded people to share ideas and dreams and to discuss solutions for challenges.  I like being part of this environment where the sky is not even the limit!”.
