Meet Our Team

PEOPLE are of front line and our front line is our bottom line.

Name:      Jeanne-Danae Januarie
Department:  Client Service Representative

Picture
Jeanne-Danae Januarie, better known as JD, is a Client Service Representative at dB Audio Namibia.  But she is also a mover and shaker in the larger Namibian creative industry.  As an actress, her first feature film “Unlikely Encounter”, was released recently, and as a singer, she debuted at Song Night during May.   She also lists playing the lead in a musical “Aspoestertjie”, which toured Namibia during  2017, and being an on-air host on Westcoast FM, as some of her creative accomplishments.
“I tried my hand at various other careers which ranged from working in a bank to teaching primary school, but quickly realised that my passion lies with performing and everything around that.  I am not good with routine, so this is the perfect environment for me where no two days are ever the same!  I really enjoy getting to know the behind-the-scenes mechanisms of the overall industry, and learnt so much from doing script continuity on the #LANDoftheBRAVEFILM set, and from the few months at dB Audio Namibia so far.
Who knows what the future holds – I believe one’s goals and dreams change over time, but in the future I certainly still see myself in this industry – as an actress, a singer, possibly a director and certainly as mentor for other young people who are reaching for the stars.”

Name:      Niko Nkandi
Deperatment:  Junior Stage Technician

Picture
Niko Nkandi is a member of our Staging & Structures team. “I grew up in Ondangwa in northern Namibia, but came to Windhoek in 2008 looking for work.  I did all sorts of jobs like laying interlocks and putting in ceilings, because all I knew was how to work with my hands.  When a neighbor told me about a temporary job at dB Audio, I went, not knowing what it was about.  But I liked it and because I work hard, I was asked to stay on. I have two children, a boy of 12 and a girl of 4, and I want to teach them that only hard work and honesty will get you somewhere in life.”

Name:      Queen Kakero
Department:  Front Office Attendant

Picture
Queen Kakero is an invaluable member of Team dB, always willing to go the extra mile… and always with a smile.  Queen started at dB Audio Namibia in the housekeeping department and in just 8 months worked herself up to our Front Office Attendant.  “My first job was, and still is, at dB Audio Namibia.  With the help of my colleagues I have learned and grown so much, professionally and personally.  I love being part of an organization where you are supported to learn, develop and grow all the time.  I feel at home and I love what I do.  I am so happy to be part of the tremendous-amazing dB Audio Namibia Team.”

Name:      Karel Simbwae
Deperatment:  Junior AV Technician

Picture
Karel Simbwae is a junior technician in our Audio Visual department.  “I joined Team dB in 2017 as a casual AV Assistant and was permanently appointed in April 2018.  Like most things in life, being an AV Technician was challenging at first, but with the in-house training I received and doing a lot of research and studying by myself, I could become a better and more confident technician.  I am also studying formally, doing my final year of Business Systems Administration through IUM.  I believe it is important to continually keep learning.  It enriches a person and allows you to achieve your goals.”

Name:      Edison Matuzee
Department:  Staging & Structures

Picture
Edison Matuzee is our Staging & Structures Team Leader.  “I joined Team dB in 2011 as a Junior Technician and worked my way up.  Two years ago I also started dabbling with CAD designs. I love being creative when designing something, then planning it out in detail, and finally building it.  The job requires you to be mentally sharp and creative as well as physically fit and diligent.  I loved the opportunity to further my CAD skills recently with Vectorworks Spotlight training in South Africa.  It opened my eyes about the possibilities of design and I really enjoy putting into practice what I learned since I’ve been back.”

Name:      Sadia Melani
Deperatment:  Client Service

Picture
Sadia Melani is one of dB Audio Namibia’s Client Service Administrators who had the opportunity of joining the exposure excursion to South Africa during August.  “Our South African industry stakeholders were so friendly and more than willing to share experiences and solutions to challenges we face on a daily basis.  It is very comforting to know there are people we can reach out to for guidance and advice.  The most important thing I learned on this trip is to be grateful for what we have.  We tend to not appreciate the little things which makes our Namibian industry very special. There are areas we lag behind, but in some others we’re doing quite well.  I loved this opportunity and am now even more inspired to take our industry to the next level!”

Name:      Char-Anne Husselmann
Department:  Project Management

Picture
Char-Anne Husselmann is a Technical Events Project Manager at dB Audio Namibia.  “My journey with Team dB started in 2013 as the receptionist. I’ve always been good with making plans and arranging logistics, so it didn’t take long before I moved over into project coordination. As exciting as that was, I didn’t like sitting in an office all day.  I am a very hands-on person who likes meeting clients, doing site visits, supporting the team on site and being present while productions are running, so I absolutely love what I do now. It really brings together all my interests and talents.” Asked about the gender balance in the technical events industry, Char-Anne agrees it is still a male dominated environment.  She however does not see it as a deterrent in any way. “When there is work to be done, there is work to be done regardless of one’s gender. Planning, budgeting, risk assessment, communicating with stakeholders and everything else I do is not gender specific.  I wish more ladies will consider a career in this field”.

Name:      Martin Nangolo
Department:  IT Support

Picture
Martin Nangolo is our in-house IT Support Technician.  “I grew up in Onyaanya in the Oshikoto region near Ondangwa.  I was always passionate about computers and technology so it was no surprise that I went on to study Computer Science at UNAM.  When dB Audio Namibia was looking for IT students to freelance at a big international conference back in 2013, I volunteered.  I knew then already this was the company I wanted to work at. Being here now for the past few months is a dream come true.  I get to live out my passion for IT and I love being surrounded by all this technology. I also really like that dB is a learning organization where I get to help my colleagues become more computer savvy. Not only do I teach, but I also learn like recently when I attended the ICT summit. It is a great platform for like-minded people to share ideas and dreams and to discuss solutions for challenges. I like being part of this environment where the sky is not even the limit!”.
